Study Japanese before you come to Japan
We recommend that students who have no prior knowledge of Japanese should learn some basics before they come to Japan. Even very basic knowledge of the Japanese writing system, vocabulary and conversational skills will be a great advantage in further study of the Japanese language, and in everyday life. Chiba University recommends e-learning software Minato developed by the Japan Foundation. This software is free of charge and will allow you to start learning Japanese at any point of time. We suggest that you should study in the A, B, C, D order, as shown below.

Chatroom：
Chiba University International Student Group (CISG) meets twice a week at CIE during teaching periods (Term 1, 2, 4 & 5). Both Japanese and international students can enjoy casual conversation in Japanese on a predetermined topic. You can check their meeting schedule and other details on the notice board at CIE.
International Exchange Room at the Faculty of Humanities：
If you study at the Faculty of Letters you are invited to come to the International exchange Room. You located on the 3rd Floor of the Sōgō Kōsha A Building#1. You can meet with a multinational mix of students of various cultural backgrounds.
